Montevideo has a street (Tristán Narvaja) full of antique shops, all are situated in basements showing you their precious goods.

Besides the antique shops, every saturday there is a big antique market near the harbour in "Plaza Matriz" in the old city. Every sunday you can go to the area around Tristan Narvaja to have a look a a fleemarket. There they not only sell antiek but also fruit and vegetables, herbs, uruguayan incense, cloths and all for good value. If you are in Montevideo on a sunday, go to Tristán Narvaja, but go early in the morning to avoid the crowd.
